YouTube announces that it will remove all content it judges to be vaccine misinformation, banning videos that claim vaccines cause autism, cancer, or infertility and pulling the accounts of several prominent skeptics. The platform, not a health agency or a court, decides what counts as false, and the move extends a wider campaign by officials and tech companies to police what the public is allowed to hear about the shots.

Compulsion produces the compliance officials wanted, at least on paper. The New York Times reports that thousands of New York health-care workers got vaccinated in the final hours before a state deadline, though the count leaves unresolved how many quit or were suspended. In Europe the picture is less orderly: the AP reports that Slovenian police turned water cannons on crowds protesting the country’s COVID pass.

Two studies add to the file the messaging tends to skip. NPR covers research finding that more than a third of COVID patients report lingering symptoms months later, while Science details the bat viruses found in a Laos cave that bear on the still-unsettled question of where the pandemic began.
